About
theArtist
My name is Willemijn van den Bos - Hafkamp. I was born in
Twello, a little village in the Netherlands. I spent my
childhood in Twello and turned to Den Haag to study and
work there. In the seventies I moved to Someren with my
husband and my two children. I started a puppet theatre
and give lessons in making puppets. In those days, I was
fascinated by the work of the Artist Willy Martinali from
Deurne. So I went to serveral courses of him. After that,
I made fantasy dolls. Before a started to make girl-like
dolls, I went to several courses of the doll artist Joke
Grobben in the eighties. After that it was going fast, because
I was asked to give courses. After serveral conversations
with Niesje Wolters I became a exhibitionsmember instead
of a exhibitionvisitor. Also abroad: I had a exhibition
in Switzerland in Castle Jegensdorf and in America in Beverly
Hills. I was also a exhibitionsmember in America of the
exhibition of Annaheim (California). My dolls areone-of-a-kind
dolls sculped in clay (LaDoll and Modelaine). When I make
a doll, I also get ideas of the clothes of the doll. I make
there clothes mostly myself, that way I keep my own style.
My dolls are from 35 cm, 50 cm up to 80 cm tall. The babydolls
are 40 cm up to 50 cm tall. Each original Willemijn doll
is signed by me in the breastplate and comes with a certificate
of authenticity.
